Access Periods

Familiarize yourself with UC Merced's online registration tools in advance of your scheduled access period to ensure access to My Registration. Then, register at your earliest convenience when your registration appointment opens to obtain the best selection of classes. Delaying registration may limit the number of preferred classes available to you to register in. 

Continuing students

Students who entered the University in spring 2023 or earlier may check their registration status and appointment time with My Registration (a link available in My Merced).

  • Find and then click the My Registration button (magnifying glass) under the "For Continuing Students" section of My Merced.
  • Click "Prepare for Registration"
  • Select a term and then press continue.
  • Review the messages in each ribbon - Time Ticket information will be available here.
    • Note multiple dates and times registration is allowed within.

Registration Appointment Availability

Appointment times are available in October for spring registration, February for summer registration, and March for fall registration, approximately 2 to 3 weeks before registration begins. Registration appointments are assigned based on the amount of earned and in-progress units a student has at that time.

Registration Pause

During each registration cycle all continuing student registration activity, including waitlist, will be paused when new students have the opportunity to register. For Fall 2024 registration, the pause will run from TBD through TBD. Registration will reopen on TBD. 

More Information About Registration Appointments

After a registration appointment is assigned, it will not be changed. This includes instances where transcripts, eligible for transfer credit review, are received after a registration appointment has been assigned. More information about registration priority can be found in the catalog

For transfer credit to be included in fall 2024 assignments, students should have official transcripts submitted to the Office of the Registrar by February 15, 2024. Fall 2024 registration appointments will be available for review in My Registration located in the My Merced portlet of in March 2024.


New students

First-year and transfer students entering the University in fall or summer 2024 will be sent information about registration appointment times, how to choose your classes, and how to register. Be sure to review the Admitted Student page for a full list of upcoming important registration-related events, dates, and deadlines. Of course, all new students are encouraged to attend an orientation session. During orientation, incoming students will meet with their academic advisor. Information about orientation, is available online.
