MyDegreePath - FAQ

FAQ

What is MyDegreePath, and where can I find my audit?
MyDegreePath is your personalized ***degree audit and schedule planning*** tool at UC Merced. It shows your progress toward degree requirements based on your catalog year, including completed, in-progress, and transfer credits. You can access it in connect.ucmerced.edu under the "MyDegreePath" icon. The audit appears with your major, catalog year, cumulative GPA, and requirement sections. Learn how to read your audit.
How do I run a new audit or view past audits?
On the Audits tab in MyDegreePath, click **Request New** or **Run Declared Program** to generate your latest audit. Use **Manage** to browse and reopen audits from the past few days. Note: audit files are deleted weekly, so save a PDF if needed. More details.
What is a "What-If Audit"?
A What-If Audit lets you test how your coursework applies if you change your major, add a minor, or select a different catalog year—**without making actual changes to your record**.
How do I build a schedule using Schedule Builder?
Schedule Builder lets you select courses from your audit (or enter manually), set preferences (like preferred times or instructors), and auto-generate possible schedules. You can compare up to 10 options, block off time for other commitments, and adjust preferences to tune results. *Note*: it does not register you—registration still happens via your student portal. See full Schedule Builder FAQ.
How do I get my transfer courses to count in my major?

If you believe a transfer course should count toward a requirement but does not, contact your academic advisor. Your advisor will review your audit with you and decide whether additional information is needed or if a request should be sent to the Registrar’s Office for correction.

For support, visit the UC Merced Advising website or contact your school’s advising office.

What is articulation, and where can my transfer courses be placed on my audit?

Articulation is how UC Merced matches your transfer courses to UC Merced courses or degree requirements.

In MyDegreePath, you can see your evaluated transfer courses (from Summer 2016 onward) under the “Transfer Evaluations” tab. Courses may show up as direct matches to UC Merced courses, as fulfilling a general education area, or as electives—depending on how they transfer.

To learn more, visit the Transfer Credit page in MyDegreePath.

If a course doesn’t appear where you expect, contact your academic advisor for help.

Why can't I register for a class even though it's showing on my Audit?
Registration can fail despite meeting audit requirements due to system restrictions like unmet co-requisites, major/class-level restrictions, missing linked sections (e.g., lecture + discussion), or full capacity. Check the specific registration error message for details, then consult your instructor or advisor. Full list of error descriptions.
How do I interpret the information on my Audit?
Your Audit includes charts (unit and GPA progress), course history, and status icons (✔ complete, […] in progress, X unfulfilled). Clicking the question mark icon opens the Legend, explaining icons, special codes (like IP—in progress), and grade notations. View with legend details.
My audit doesn't seem correct. What should I do?

First, review your degree requirements in the UC Merced Catalog and confirm that you are looking at the correct catalog year for your program.

  • There are several reasons why a course might not appear where you expect it on your audit:
  • The course is still in progress, or transfer credit has not yet posted.
  • The course may already be satisfying a different requirement.
  • Duplicate credit rules may prevent it from being applied in more than one place.
  • The grade earned may not meet the minimum requirement.

If, after reviewing your requirements, you believe a course should satisfy a requirement but is not, contact your academic advisor. They can review your record and determine whether a correction or exception is needed.

For more details about policies and requirements, visit the UC Merced Registrar’s website.

What are the upcoming changes to MyDegreePath?
A system upgrade is scheduled for **August 14, 2025**, with a freeze on updates and edits from **August 8–14**. During the freeze, you can still run audits and use Schedule Builder, but exceptions or record changes may not process until after the update.
How to Plan Your Courses (While Planner Is Unavailable)

You can plan your upcoming semester by using three tools together: your Degree Audit, the Catalog Four-Year Plan, and Schedule Builder. Follow these steps to stay on track:

Step 1 — Run your Degree Audit

  1. Log in to MyDegreePath and run a new audit.
  2. Review your audit to see which requirements are already completed and which are still needed.
  3. For step-by-step instructions, visit: How to Run an Audit.

Tip: Think of your audit as your personal checklist. It shows exactly what you have left to finish your degree.

Step 2 — Check your Catalog Four-Year Plan

  1. Go to the UC Merced Catalog and open the Four-Year Plan for your major.
  2. Look at the recommended courses for your next term (e.g., “Fall, Year 2”).
  3. Compare the Four-Year Plan to your audit. If your audit shows the requirement is still needed and the plan recommends it next term, that course is a good choice to schedule.

Example (Biological Sciences, B.A.): Four-Year Course Plan

Step 3 — Use Schedule Builder

  • Enter your selected courses into Schedule Builder.
  • Create a schedule that avoids time conflicts and fits your preferences.
  • Adjust as needed if prerequisites or time conflicts prevent you from adding a course.

Step 4 — Save and double-check

  • Print or save your Schedule Builder results for your records.
  • After you register, run your Degree Audit again to confirm your new courses apply to the correct requirements.

Step 5 — Get help when you need it
