Staying on Track with MyDegreePath

MyDegreePath is a powerful tool to help you stay on top of your academic progress—but it's only useful if you check it regularly and know what to look for. Here are our top tips for using your audit effectively each term.

Always Re-Run Your Audit After Changes

Your audit is a snapshot of your academic record at the time you ran it. If anything changes, re-run your audit to get an updated view.

Run a new audit after you:

  • Add or drop a class
  • Change your major, minor, or emphasis
  • Submit a Degree Audit Exception
  • Receive new transfer credit or test scores
  • Make changes in your Degree Plan (if one exists)

Check at Key Points During the Term

  • Before meeting with your academic advisor
  • Before registering for the next term
  • After grades are posted at the end of the semester
  • Before applying for graduation

Use the What-If Audit Before Making Big Decisions

Thinking about switching majors, adding a minor, or changing catalog years? Run a What-If Audit to preview how your existing courses would apply in a new program before you make the change official.

Keep Your Plan and Audit in Sync

If your advisor has created a Degree Plan for you, you can run an audit that includes planned courses. Use the Advanced Settings and check "Include Planned Courses" before running the audit.

Final Tip

The sooner you spot a problem, the easier it is to fix. Review your audit early and often—and don’t hesitate to ask for help if something looks off!
